When done it’s only on 1-2 things for contrast, a visual term that no one is using during these videosĦ) almost all the songs they work with are trash mixed in with some nearly finished pop tracks. I thought it would be a little more diverse but there truly are like 2-3 main compressors everyone usesģ) honestly - the stems they work with sound better than 99% of the things the average engineer is working with, especially people recording at homeĤ) everyone talks about vibe the entire time and getting things Vibe-y, this is almost exclusively tape or parallel saturation/compressionĥ) generally, people like extremely gentle changes stacked and avoid dramatic compression, EQs and filters unless done for an effect. Here are some notes I’ve taken in no order and some are repeated if they’re super importantġ) a lot of audio engineers have crazy vocal fry when they talk - I’m looking at you Greg WellsĢ) almost everyone uses 1176s or LA2As in some capacity. But it’s not like the Netflix of audio stuff either, it’s super specific.
